 SHIMANO

From an angling perspective, every individual who has owned and enjoyed using Shimano tackle has a reason to thank a Japanese visionary named Shozaburo Shimano, who in 1921 declared “I aim to make Shimano’s products the best in Kansai, then the best in Japan, and finally the best in the world.”

For over 80 years, Shimano has concentrated on precision engineering, one step at a time. Creating the most innovative products and processes you can hold in your hand today.

SALTY CREW

There was a time in surfing, maybe you could call it surfing’s “golden age”, before it was cool. Before Gidget maybe. When Surfers were wild men, Expelled from society, probably by choice.

They found the sea better than the society they had been cast out of. So they spent their lives out in the water. Nobody understood what they were doing out there. Maybe they didn’t understand it, but they knew they needed it. When the surf was flat they fished, or they dove, and when the wind picked up they sailed, but they never got out of the water. When they were in the water, they were living, everything else… well everything else was just waiting. This attitude seems to have disappeared in the surfing world, been lost somewhere along the way. The surfing culture has left the beach; its lost its salt, fizzled out and dried up somewhere inland. But still, whether they are weaving through the crowds of yuppies and yahoos at the beach, or off on the fringe, alone, finding refuge in the sea, there are still a few who choose to lead a lifestyle supported by the ocean… they choose to keep it Salty.

 SIMMS

Simms is a fishing company.

Founded on the pillars of innovation we strive to build the highest quality products to keep anglers dry, comfortable, and protected from the elements – no matter the conditions.

The company was the brainchild of visionary angler John Simms who saw a need to develop better waders and accessories than what was then available on the market. That quest led to the development of Simms Fishing Products in 1980. During that era, Simms was one of the first companies worldwide to introduce neoprene waders, which provided enhanced warmth and waterproofing gear for serious anglers pushing the limits of their fishing pursuits.

ST. CROIX FISHING RODS

Fishing takes us to all sorts of places we might otherwise never see. Park Falls, Wisconsin, is one of those places. Out-of-state plates usually belong to folks who know it’s home to the St. Croix Rod Company. Their pilgrimage takes them up to this remote hamlet of North Country to see where IPC® technology was first conceived and refined. To stand near the place where St. Croix aligns the latest advances in technology with time-honored handcrafting techniques to build some of the finest fishing tools available. In Park Falls, they also find what might be the only rod company that employs engineers to work alongside rod designers.

R&R BOATWORKS (CONCH 27)

Nearly 30 years ago the legendary Conch 27 was conceived by Key West professional fishing guides and designed by a renowned naval architect to be the ultimate “no frills” fishing platform. Performance, stability, overbuilt construction, ample storage, and large live-wells and fish-boxes were the focal points in the design. This resulted in an extremely strong, efficient, stable, dry, and spacious fishing platform. These attributes are what made Conch truly legendary. A traditional curved and crowned full transom, broken shear line, tumblehome aft hull sides, and sharp entry created the classic looks. In 2005 R & R Boatworks, a previous 27 customer, bought the company from Eddy & Duff, designed and introduced the Conch 33, a larger exact version of the Conch 27. We still build the boats as they were originally built, but with some significant improvements to fit & finish work, hatch & gutter design, console design; and began using higher tech materials and construction methods. We have also incorporated more comfort and family feature and options.
